Traditionally the bathroom has a very low fire risk. Still, some periodic inspections are required. The following steps will help keeping your bathroom safe from fire hazards.
Appliances
Check wires and cords for appliances used in the bathroom. Make sure they are undamaged. Discard all broken electrical appliances. Check for overloaded extension cords and outlets.
Make sure that appliances are installed or located with adequate space from the water. Unplug electrical appliances when not in use. Never leave the bathroom while appliances are on.
Space heaters need space. Keep combustibles such as cloths and towels at least three feet away from the heater.
Candles
It is most recommended to avoid using candles in the bathroom. If you do use candles, they must be used with extreme care. Place them in safe, nonflammable holders and extinguish before you leave the bathroom.
Smart Tips for Fire Damage Prevention in the Bathroom:
- Check wires and cords regularly.
- Check extension cords and outlets for overloaded.
